400 New Australians. Every One of Them Deserved a Photo Worth Keeping.

Covering two citizenship ceremonies in a single day means covering a lot of ground.

Four hundred people. Two ceremonies. Dozens of individual moments, the oath, the handshake, the certificate, the photo with family.

Multiply that across a full room of new Australians and you end up with a lot of frames.

We ended up with 7,000.

That number isn't unusual for a job like this. What matters isn't how many photos you take. It's how many are actually useful when the comms team opens the folder on Monday morning.

From 7,000 frames, we selected 800 images that were sharp, well-lit, emotionally present, and representative of the day.

Portraits that captured genuine moments, not just open mouths mid-sentence. Group shots with everyone in frame. Ceremony images that Council could actually use in newsletters, social media, and community reporting.

The brief for this kind of work isn't just "document the day." It's deliver a library that works. One where the right image is findable, usable, and worth publishing.
